CLASSIC & MARK I BLINDS
Levolor Riviera Classic and Mark I blinds are manufactured with the same premium grade aluminum slats, which includes recycled aluminum materials, for maximum strength and durability.
Levolor Riviera Classic and Mark I blinds are coated with a non-leaded formulation paint and with Levolor's patented DustGuard finish. They are available in the exact same color line.
On the Riviera Classic series, the VogueŽ round-wrap valance provides a sleek finished look for any window. This valance is easy to install and ships fully assembled.
Levolor Mark I blinds feature an integrated headrail and valance in a contoured shape that reduces light leakage and creates a tailored and uniform appearance.
Levolor Riviera Classic and Mark I blinds also feature all metal operating components in the headrails and safety installation brackets. Levolor's standard crash-proof cordlock prevents accidental release of the blind and securely holds the blind at any level.
Plus, Levolor's Guardian Tilter safeguards against breakage while providing smooth operation of the tilt wand on both product lines.
The only differences between the Riviera Classic and Mark I are aesthetic appearance differences. In fact, the Mark I used to be named the Riviera Mark I, as it is a variation of the venerable Riviera Classic blind.
The Riviera Classic uses the traditional end-mount brackets. The headrail then is inserted into these brackets, and the brackets and face of the headrail are hidden by the VogueŽ round-wrap valance. This illustration shows the headrail and bracket setup of the Levolor Riviera Classic blind:
The Mark I has an integrated headrail and valance in a contoured shape that reduces light leakage and creates a tailored and uniform appearance. It does not require nor include any separate valance and looks like this:
The Mark I brackets are concealed along the top of the headrail rather than mounted on the ends of the blind. This illustration shows the headrail and bracket setup of the Mark I blind:
The tilt wands for the Levolor Riviera Classic and Mark I blinds are both made of clear, pliable DuPont LuciteŽ, but they differ a bit in appearance. The Levolor Riviera Classic wand is hexagonal in shape while the Mark I wand is round. Here are the two wands:
The final difference between the Levolor Riviera Classic and Mark I blinds is the bottom rail. On the Riviera Classic blinds it is an oval-shaped rail open approximately 1/4" along the top, which is covered by the last slat. It has plastic end caps and center bumpers to protect the window casings and sill from scratches.
On the Mark I blinds the bottom rail is completely enclosed and has a PVC bumper (color matched) running along the bottom of the rail. Again, this is to protect the window casings and sill from scratches.
While there are some appearance differences between the Levolor Riviera Classic and Mark I blinds, they are intended to be on the same quality level. Levolor has maintained the product integrity of the Riviera Classic while offering some aesthetic differences with the Mark I as well as a cordless version of the Mark I blind.
As there are no real quality issues here (compared to the differences between the Riviera Classic line and Levolor's lower quality Riviera Basic 6 blind) you can make your selection between the Riviera Classic and Mark I based on your style preferences.
As for practical differences, it is our opinion that the Riviera Classic is a little simpler for the consumer to install, as it requires little measuring for the bracket positioning. The Mark I includes a template with each order for exact bracket placement.
The Riviera Classic bracket is adaptable to side-mounting, back-mounting or overhead-mounting. The Mark I is not adaptable to side-mounting, only back-mounting and overhead-mounting.
